Chitipa United have received their prize money for winning the 2018 Simso League.
At a ceremony in Karonga on Saturday, Chitipa were given their K2 million prize money.
Second placed Bolero United got K1 million while Fish Eagles and Ekwendeni Hammers went away with K600 000 and K300 000 as third and fourth placed sides respectively.
Speaking during the event, Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) General Secretary Masiya Nyasulu said the association is not sleeping in order to run football in the North smoothly.
“We don’t sleep just because we want to run the fame of football here in the north smoothly, and most of the time people mock us just because we want justice at the end of the day” said Nyasulu.
Commenting on why only teams received prizes without individual awards, Vice chairperson for NRFA Mbonekera Msiska said the individual awards will happen in early March.
“As you are aware, Northern Region Football League has two sponsors, Simso as main sponsor and there is co-Sponsor Pulora so as we were organising this event Pulora said they will have a separate event for individual awards,” said Msiska.
At the event, Football Association of Malawi FAM second vice president Orthaniel Hara was the guest of honor and he pledged K500 thousand Kwacha toward top four bonanza which will take place shortly.
