Suspended Karonga United coach Christopher Nyambose has asked the club to terminate his one-year contract.
Nyambose said on Tuesday that his suspension period expired but the club has not recalled him and he cannot afford to continue staying idle.
“My contract will expire in April next year so I want it to be terminated, I can’t afford staying out of the ground, yes I am on suspension but the period has expired and they are not telling me anything,” said Nyambose.
However, Karonga United Alufeyo chairperson Chipanga Banda said Nyambose is still coach for the team and they are not considering firing him.
“Suspension doesn’t mean he is no longer a coach and on top of that we are giving him everything according to his contract,” he said.
Nyambose was suspended after Karonga United lost three Super League games.
Two weeks ago, angry Karonga United supporters attacked Nyambose at the club’s training ground ahead of a Super League match.
Relegation threatened Karonga United have 31 points in the TNM Super League.
Reports show that Northern Region Football League leaders Chitipa United want to hire Nyambose once they secure Super League promotion.
