A 68-year-old woman and a 25-year-old train driver have won K1 million each in Airtel Malawi’s Bandulo Bandulo promotion.
The woman Veronica Kumwima and the train driver Mayamiko Mwandula from Zomba and Liwonde respectively were named this week’s Bandulo winners.
Speaking at a cheque presentation in Zomba, the woman said she used to buy several Airtel bundles hence her winning of the prize.
She then said she will spend the money for her business which she once suspended due to lack of enough capital to proceed.
“Am so delighted to have won the money and I am so thankful to Airtel for bringing this promotion. I was once doing business but I could not continue since I had insufficient capital,” the woman said.
On the other hand, Mwandula also told reporters after a cheque presentation at Liwonde trading centre that he in most cases buy Airtel WhatsApp bundles hence his winning. He said he will spend the money to buy a plot.
The two encouraged all Airtel customers to keep on buying bundles as much as they can to stand a chance of winning any of the prizes in the promotion.
Reacting to the progress of the promotion, Airtel’s Senior Zone Business Manager Leslie Tsilizani said the competition is going on very well.
Tsilizani further said despite the promotion being a gift to their customers, their company has also benefited a lot since it has boosted its sales.
“Our sales have definitely benefited from the promotion but this promotion was beyond boosting the sales. We were looking at appreciating the support that we get from our customers,” Tsilizani said.
The promotion commenced on 15 August and it is expected to be concluded on December 5 when the luckiest Airtel customer will walk away with K10 million grand prize.
