Fire on Monday night destroyed a hostel at Police Secondary School in Zomba.
According to reports, the inferno started around 18:15.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene 30 minutes after being called managed to put out the fire but all property inside the hostel had already been destroyed.
Malawi24 understands no one was injured during the incident as the fire started while students were at prep studies.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established but students told the local media that for the past few days they have been seeing sparks on a main power transfer line from an Escom pole connected to the hostels.
