Speeding car hits police officers to death

A speeding car has struck to death two police officers who were at a roadblock near Dowa Turn-Off in Dowa district.

According to a report made available to this publication, two other police officers sustained injuries during the crash and were taken to Mtengowanthenga hospital.

Malawi24 understands that a Mercedes Benz saloon which was being driven by a suspected drunkard hit the four police officers who were manning the roadblock.

The police officers were taken to Mtengowanthenga but two of the officers died in an ambulance en route to Kamuzu Central Hospital from Mtengowanthenga Hospital.

Amongst the injured officers is a female police officer.

  50. very sorry. i understand the killed officers were leaning on the road block’s cross bar. did they not realize the on coming vehicle was out of control? I have made it my habit to study security personnel on duty. MOST of the times they are not alert. you see them chatting with friends/customers. plz let’s change our attitude, ALWAYS STAY ALERT. THIS IS YOUR LIFE. DON’T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED!!!!
