Police in Mulanje district have arrested a man for wearing a Malawi police camouflaged top.
Mulanje Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira has confirmed the arrest of Jonathan Maseya who was found wearing the police attire.
Ngwira said Maseya was arrested on Friday and when asked what his profession is and how he got the uniform he failed to give convincing answers.
Currently, the suspect is in police custody and when investigations are through he will answer the charge of unlawful possession of articles provided to police officers contravening section 151 of Police Act.
Maseya hails from Kadewere village, Senior Chief Mabuka in Mulanje district.
Meanwhile police have advised the general public against wearing police uniforms or unlawful use of its equipment.
The law enforcers have said that anyone found will be arrested and the long arm of the law will be against him or her.

Knowing the section in the penal code and understanding what it says are really two different things.
As far as I know it a crime everywhere. But they are some concerns with our laws. Does these laws only work to a certain group or what? So this show money power. Mulanje Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira has confirmed the arrest of Jonathan Maseya who was found wearing the police attire. Ngwira said Maseya was arrested on Friday and when asked what his profession is and how he got the uniform he failed to give convincing answer Currently, the suspect is in police custody and when investigations are through he will answer the charge of unlawful possession of articles provided to police officers contravening section 151 of Police Act. Maseya hails from Kadewere village, Senior Chief Mabuka in Mulanje district. Meanwhile police have advised the general public against wearing police uniforms or unlawful use of its equipment.
