Athletic clubs in Mzuzu on Sunday elected new members for Northern Region Athletics committee during elections held at Katoto Secondary School.
Five athletic clubs from the north were responsible for putting the new office bearers in their positions.
Always Zingile went unopposed as chairman while Stanly Tchuwa beat a Mr. Misasi on the position of vice chairman.
Sebastian Nyirenda who is also a journalist was voted as general secretary beating Vera Mbeya by 10 votes to 3 votes.
Ken Phiri scooped the position of treasure after seeing off Alick Phiri while Jane Msiska is the committee’s new vice treasure. Msiska beat Christopher Munthali and Ndunga Mgomezulu to get the position.
Members of the committee elected are Ben Msasi, Vera Mbeya, Ndunga Mgomezulu and Christopher Munthali while Alick Phiri is a regional coach.
The regional sports office for the north and Athletics Association of Malawi presided over the elections.
