A 33-year-old man is in custody for trying to shoot the man who married his ex-wife at Chikwina in Rumphi district.
According to the district’s police publicist Ignatius Esau, the suspect has been identified as Henry Shaba.
The publicist said Shaba threatened to shoot Kondwani Mhone who is now a husband to his ex-wife.
Esau said Shaba and the woman were married for three years but earlier this year, she divorced him and got married to Mhone.
This did not please the suspect who in retaliation, on Monday, took a muzzle loader and went to Chikwina trading centre where he threatened to shoot Mhone.
He was later blocked and arrested by members of community policing and the muzzle loader was confiscated.
Shaba who comes from Mtalama village, Traditional Authority Mwahenga in Rumphi district will appear in court soon to answer the charge of threatening violence contrary to section 86 of the penal code.
