Lover’s husband hacks off tailor’s fingers

A man in Dedza district has chopped off two fingers of a tailor whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife.

The husband became suspicious of the tailor and his wife after the woman told him she gets free tailoring services at the tailor’s shop.

Dedza police have identified the tailor as Thomas Jeremiah, 20, and the attacker as Enock Koloneliyo.

According to Dedza police spokesperson Cassim Manda, the incident occurred last week at around 7pm when the victim Jeremiah together with a friend were going to the market to buy charcoal.

On their way they met the attacker’s wife identified as Samaleni who stopped them and asked where they were coming from.

As they were answering her, Koloneliyo (the woman’s husband) appeared and cut off the tailors’ two right hand fingers.

The matter was reported to Dedza police station where the victim was issued with medical report.

Koloneliyo was arrested and he told police that the tailor gives his wife free tailoring services whenever she goes to his shop so when he found the two together he suspected something fishy and decided to deal with victim.

The suspect will soon appear in court to answer the charge of grievous harm contrary to section 238 of penal code which attracts maximum sentence of fourteen years.

Jeremiah comes from Chiluzi village in the area of Traditional Authority Kasumbu in Dedza while Koloneliyo hails from Chiluzi village, T/A Kasumbu in Dedza district.
