Mutharika appoints four high court judges

President Peter Mutharika has with immediate effect appointed four legal professionals as high court judges.

Mutharika has made the appointments.

According to a statement signed by Chief Secretary to the Office of President and Cabinet, to appoint the high court judges Mutharika has used powers conferred upon him by section 111 subsection (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi.

The four are High Court Registrar Joseph Chigona, Dorothy de Grabrielle, Lilongwe magistrate court’s Chief Resident Magistrate Ruth Chinangwa and lawyer George Bakuwa.

Currently Mutharika is in United States of America where he was attending 71st United Nations General Assembly and he is to expected to jet in on Sunday 16th October according State House press secretary Mgeme Kalirani.
