Four arrested for theft
Police in Limbe over the weekend arrested four men in Bangwe who have been terrorising Bangwe and Soche townships near the town.
According to assistant spokesperson for Limbe police station Widson Nhlane, the suspects have been identified as Pangani Linko, 38, Limbani Mafaiti aged 23, Precious Daniel, 30, and Martin Kaipa aged 30.
Nhlane said on 7 September this year, Linko and Mafaiti broke into Thundu CCAP and stole items such as computers, DVD players, keyboard, mixer, amplifiers and a carton of U-fresh all valued at K619,000,00.
The same thieves later stole assorted groceries worth K850,000,00 from another place. Nhlane said investigations were launched and police managed to arrest the suspects but they are yet to recover the stolen items.
The other two suspects, Kondwani Kaipa and Precious Daniel, broke into a house of a Polytechnic student at Blantyre TTC on 19 September and stole items such as a Television, amplifier, microphone, and electrical cable all valued at K350,000,00.
The items have been recovered and positively identified by the owner.
Kaipa hails from Malekafu village T/A Mchiramwera in Thyolo district, Linko hails from Boloweza Village T/A Khwetemule in Thyolo district whilst Boika hails from Chinganda village T/A Machinjiri in Blantyre.
They will soon appear before court to answer charges of burglary and theft.
