In efforts to end maternal deaths in the country, Nation Publications Limited (NPL) through its 2016 Fun Run event has donated equipment worth millions in Kwacha to Mzimba district hospital.
The 2016 Fun Run generated K77 million to support the hospital with various medical equipment that it needs.
Speaking at this year’s Fun Run ceremony in Mzimba on Saturday, NPL Chief Executive Officer Mbumba Banda said the hospital was reported to have been lacking vital needs for its day to day operations.
Banda expressed worry over reports of high maternal deaths in the country hence the move to help public hospitals such as Mzimba with needs.
Mzimba District Health Officer (DHO) Lumbani Muthali commended the newspaper for the gesture, saying the donation will benefit the hospital.
NPL introduced the Fun Run event to help reduce challenges faced by public hospitals as they are saving lives of Malawians in the country.
Over the past years, proceeds from the Fun Run have helped various public hospitals in the three regions of Malawi.
That’s it! God bless NPL. They haven’t wasted their breath blaming the President and his government for poor equipment at the hospital. Indeed it begins with us.
