It might be ambitious and beautiful dreams but the Malawi leader has said it is achievable and his government will start that path soon.
The Malawi government says it will soon start reconstructing districts’ headquarters in all districts in the country.
According to President Peter Mutharika who was speaking on Thursday at Luwelezi school ground in Mzimba district, the old structures are tired and will have to be pulled down.
At a rally he addressed dubbed developmental, Mutharika said most of the country’s districts’ headquarters are not in good form such that they need to be reconstructed.
He then commanded that Mzimba will be the first to taste the fruits of the reconstruction project.
“I’m now introducing district headquarters renovation. There are some districts headquarters which have been overlooked for a long time.
“I will start reconstructing them and the first one to be in a modern district complex will be the Mzimba boma,” said Mutharika.
He added that his government will bring other development projects to the area including a community college and an electrification program in Luwelezi.
The reconstruction of districts’ headquarters comes at a time when government is also busy rehabilitating roads in the country’s cities, towns and district.

Anthu a ku Ntcheu kodi pumbwa ameneyu amakuonani ngati oseweretsa eti?? You have been voting for DPP but have never benefitted in terms of road infrastructure bwanji?? For how long are we going to wait for TSANGANO road that feeds a good part if the population??? This Muhlakho Hyena is always embarking on road projects in his MTL (Mulanje Thyolo Limited).
In as much as I agree with the president on electrification, colleges, and the ongoing roads construction, but I do not think at the moment it is a priority to spend on district offices. I do not think that there is lack of office space in the districts but rather that will only provide comfortable office space, and yet decentralization has not worked. The new buildings will hardly translate into s significant move in development. I would rather that the government concentrate on (i) what we do not have, (ii) what is inadequate, e.g. Road network, health services, irrigated land, etc., (iii) what will make Malawi self-reliant, to do away with too much reliance on donor support, to do away with the tendency of borrowing for consumption and accrue loans for generations to come to repay, (iv) what will increase employment level and entrepreneurship, (v) what will translate into more export of processed products and less import. Projects that pass these five tests are projects that government should spend on at the moment, such projects that that only makes the office comfortable are not a priority at the moment. This is my strong opinion.
Its good to dream.in fact ukakhuta u must dream…that dream deserves to belong to a teenager coz he will live to leave it but you dont dream teenage dreams while your clock of life is already striking 00:00
Economic melt down of the country really don’t make this man’s ideas as a serious tusk?
Malawians are in a very serious leadership crisis.
We are lacking a visionary leader to Boot out Malawi from becoming a bankrupt nation in Southern Africa.
He has promised many developmental programs of which are still primarily to recover our lost economic reform.
We would hear a sounding and promising move that more companies are coming to invest into the country from mining and manufacturing to recover our economic growth.
We haven’t seen any of his manifested promises to Malawians, but only hunting innocent and souring innocent Malawians.
May God take you out of Malawi’s face.
Ukuona ngati iwe suzafa? Mulungu wache uti ukupemphayo
Salima sugar company yayambapotu. Don’t you know? Timiseu tikukonzedwati some Malawians are getting timaganyu nkumathandizika. Rome was not built in a day mind you.
walakwa chiyani President kut umutsogoze? Iweyo ndi wamuyaya?
@John it may be you who have a problem. I see lots of positive developments around. In fact Malawi is doing far much better than most countries around us, challenge me by naming a country in this region or beyond than is not affected by the current global economic meltdown and climate changes. No country on earth ever changed within 5 yrs. It all begins with just an ambition, just a talk. These ambitions are a beginning of everything. These ambitions should be documented and nurtured by him APM or anybody else who takes up the throne. By the way how did you erect your house? What processes did you follow to buy your vehicle? Did you buy your vehicle the way you buys your Fanta? Or did you build your house just like you were cooking nsima for lunch? Or were they a process of some sort? Why do people let themselves think childishly? Learn to forget personal hatred in matters of national development because it is only in that way that we will get our families developed. Hatred will take you no where. When Kamuzu was in power I loved him like my president though I had reservations in some areas, I did the same with Bakili and Bingu and Joyce. And I am doing the same with Peter. I fail to generate hatred towards fellow human beings worse still towards a fellow Malawian worse still towards my PRESIDENT. Longwe it’s time your mindset changed.
What about ‘ long and overdue ‘ projects like nkhotakota – Dwangwa road, Mzuzu – Nkhata bay road? Moneys have bn donated but the projects do not materialize . Sorry if I’m opening a can of Worms

That’s another good promise that goes to Tyolo. Karonga, where uranium is mined and human life expectancy reduced due to hazardous uranium dust, is still underdeveloped. Develope the sources first then we can see your integrity, Mr President

Well said sir very true
5 universities within 10 yrs from 2012 across malawi, bitumenised roads across malawi till 2019,it might be dreaming in colours but the zero development budget won’t sustain us.
Well done!! bt i knw tht it wl turned within few days

Maganizo abwino…as long as it will not be turned into another way of swindling more money from the government coffers. This man can not be trusted at all.
Well Done The Head Of State For That
