Silver, Nomads players released from Flames camp

The Malawi national football team has released Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers so that they be part of their respective clubs in the Carlsberg Cup semifinals this weekend.

According to the Flames team Manage, Clement Kafwafwa, the players needed to be part of their clubs so that they be psychologically clean and because the sponsors are also the prime sponsors of the national team side.

”We saw it very fit to let them go to their respective clubs and be part of the players in the Carlsberg Cup semis over the weekend” he said.

The Nomads sent up to 6 players to the national team while the Central Bankers contributed 3 players to the side which plays in a formality match on September 4 against Swaziland in the 2017 African Cup of Nations- a race the Flames got booted out already.

The Nomads had seen goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa making a cut to the national team alongside defenders Stainley Sanudi, veteran Harry Nyirenda and Francis Mlimbika.

Midfielder Rafick Namwera and forward Peter Wadabwa also made the cut to the side.

The Bankers sent defender, Lucky Malata, youthful midfielder Mathews Sibale and Thuso Paipi.

Wanderers play host to the cup’s surprise package thus far, Mangochi Police on Saturday while the bankers meet Mafco on Sunday in Lilongwe.
