Trouble at Bullets: Coach Ndawa ,Tewesa sacked

Nyasa Big Bullets have sacked coach Franco Ndawa months after he led them to the Presidential Cup success and have also dissolved the position of technical director with immediate effect, Malawi24 can reveal.

According to information made available to this publication, there was an executive meeting on Sunday where they all agreed to have Ndawa fired from his position following the team’ dismal perfomance in the league.

The decision comes barerly hours after Bullets’ 1-nil defeat to Mafco FC in the Carlsberg Cup quarter final clash at Civo Stadium on Saturday afternoon. During the meeting, the Noel Lipipa led executive committee also agreed to dissolve the position of Technical Director which was being handled by Billy Tewesa due to financial problems.

The team’ General Secretary Kelvin Moyo confirmed the development to Malawi24 in an exclusive interview saying Ndawa and Tewesa were voted out of power by the delegates who were available during the meeting.

“We had an executive meeting where the majority of the delegates gave Coach Franco Ndawa a vote of no confidence following the team’s dismal peromance in the league as well as in other competitions. Following this, Ndawa has been fired from his position.”

“The delegates also decided to dissolve the position of the Technical Director because it is costing the team a lot of money yet the position is similar to that of the head coach so we decided to completely dissolve the position,” he said.

Moyo then revealed that Lloyd Nkhwazi will take over as Bullets’ caretaker coach, with Mabvuto Lungu coming in as his deputy.

Bullets finished 16 points clear last season but have lost two of their first round matches in the top flight so far and have finished the round on 6th position with 25 points.

Ndawa’s final match was Saturday’s 1-nil defeat to Mafco FC in a cup game at Civo Stadium. Efforts to speak to Ndawa and Tewesa proved futile as their cell phone lines went an answered
