MTV Maxi Bullets have today registered their first league win of the season after coming from two goals behind to beat Mafco 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre.
The game started on an impressive note as both teams were displaying good passing football in the opening minutes of the first half.
But it was Mafco who started building strong momentum and looked brighter and they took the lead in the opening 10 minutes of the match after Joseph Donsa headed in M
afco fc cross to beat Maxi Bullets goalkeeper Alex Makina and it was 1 nil in favour of the soldiers.
A few minutes later, Richard Mbulu doubled the soldiers’ lead after Maxi Bullets goal minder Alex Makina was caught napping in the line of duty. Makina was substituted shortly after the goal.
Despite seeing more of the ball, Max Bullets struggled to break through, as they were playing at a sluggish pace and finding no space behind a compact Mafco fc defence.
But their effort was awarded after the quarter hour mark after Frazer Menyani pulled a goal back for Max Bullets.
As the game was heading towards the end of the first half, Pilirani Kadam’manja scored Max Bullets’ second after the soldiers defence was caught napping in the line of duty and the first half ended 2 all.
After the break, MTV Max Bullets continued from where they stopped in the first half as they were playing good attacking football.
Menyani then scored Max Bullets’ third and his second of the afternoon and it was 3-2 in favour of MTV Max Bullets.
After that goal, Mafco pressed for an equaliser but Max defended well as they did not allow the soldiers to break their defence.
The momentum seemed to be with the rookies Max Bullets in the second half but it was the soldiers who went close on several occasions.
Maxi Bullets however defended well and the match ended 3-2 and went their way.
In other Super League matches played today, Blue Eagles held Nyasa Big Bullets to a goalless draw whereas Karonga United beat Red Lions 2-1 at Mzuzu stadium to register their second win of the season.
