Bullets hero again: Ernest Kakhobwe sets a new big record

Spotted by Bvumbwe Research and rejected by Mighty Wanderers, Ernest Kakhobwe has made his own history by becoming the first shot-stopper to save five penalties in the Presidential Cup history.

He was a hero when Bullets edged past Blue Eagles in the Presidential Cup round of 16 when he saved three penalties to progress into the last 8 of the competition.

Weeks later, he saved Richard Mbulu’s penalty during his side’s 3-nil victory over Mafco FC in the semi-finals of the cup as Bullets progressed to the finals of the cup.

And during the shoot-out in the finals, Kakhobwe made his fifth penalty save when he denied Lovemore Jere from putting the ball into the back of the net. Ever since inspection in 2009, no any other goalkeeper has ever made five penalties in a single season.

Penalties aside, his stunning save in the second half to deny Wiseman Kamanga from doubling his tally, gave Bullets a relief as they equalized in the additional minutes through Chiukepo Msowoya, forcing the game to go to penalties where Bullets triumphed 4-3 to clinch the cup for the second time in history.

Kakhobwe had un-successful season at Wanderers who later dumped him to Azam Tigers where he made his mark to be spotted by Bullets where he is now the hero.
