Concerned people in Nkhotakota district have formed a charity organisation that is aimed at helping needy people, particularly orphans and the disabled in the district.
According to Hassan Zulian Nkhoma, chairperson of the organisation which is called Nkhotakota Support for Poor and Disabled, they came up with the idea after noticing the pathetic conditions that some people in the district are living in.
“Some of us are blessed with little money and that little money can be used to help others. God blesses more those who give out than those who receive,” said Zulian Nkhoma.
He added that the organisation will currently be doing its jobs in southern and central parts of the district but they will later start working in other parts.
So far the organisation has 10 members and every member has been asked to contribute K3000 every month as a way of sourcing funds.
“We will be asking well-wishers to help us with funds and we will be doing big walks, fundraising activities to stabilise our financial standing,” Zulian said.
