Mzomera Ngwira joins PP breakaway party

Expelled People’s Party Provincial Chairman for the North, Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has joined a PP breakaway party, we can confirm.

In a statement released today, the newly formed Union Party (UP) has named Mzomera as one of its interim office bearers.

Malawi24 understands that the interim office holders in the Union Party (UP) were elected at the party’s inaugural founding delegates conferences held at the confluence of the great rivers of the prairies, in Manitoba, Canada.

A statement which this publication has seen, shows that Ngwira is the party’s law and order secretary.

The conference also elected Paul Shawa as its interim president and Prof. Newton Kalengamaliro as its deputy president.

Other people elected are Cassamajor Mulonyeni who is general secretary, organizing secretary Thandiwe Ganda, foreign secretary Jonathan Kudambwe and Farm transformation secretary Dr Francis Nindi .

According to the statement, the party has filled many of its departments and the members will hold their positions until new bearers are elected at a convention which will be communicated in due course.

“We have all departments pretty well covered but others will be by appointment.. To serve as well until the convention,” the party said.

However, we could not immediately get Ngwira’s comment on the issue.

  78. Is this a party for Malawi or a diaspora forum or an Assosiation of people living in Canada. You are just worrying your time and money for nothing. Only three parties in Malawi can claim something these include DPP, MCP and UDF all other parties needs to be closed down. As for the North forget about a part that will be enjoying what AFORD enjoyed in the first term of Bakili Muluzi before he technically knocked it down completely and it will never ever come back. You northerner will be supporting one of these three parties or another party that will be formed out of DPP with a reputable person with a DPP ticket like what Bingu did but other wise nothing will come out. You will remain without your own regional strength because you don’t belong to one tribe. Nkhata Bay for Tongas, Chitipa of course for those smaller tribes that are not even United. Karonga for Nkhondes with Karonga South as for the Tumbukazi. Rumphi for Tumbukas of Chukuwa Majembe and Mzimba for the half cast of Tumbuka and Ngonis and Likoma for anyone in the ruling party class. These tribal demographic factors will need soul searching to come up with a unified party to represent the North. And that would need to be formed by all the MPs from the North. For this to happen it will take a miracle because of selfishness. Other tribes think that the North is for Tumbukas which is not true for there is a tribe in every district. So don’t worst your money and time in forming this diaspora forum and take it to a party.

The only advice i can give to mr Mgwira is to leave politics and open up his personal businesses that he can run so that his life is better of not joining another party that wont make any difference in Malawi. Ask the New Labour Party of Friday jumbe where it is now after it break away from UDF.
