President of Umodzi Party, John Chisi, has asked the Malawi government to consider reducing the price of maize which is sold at Agriculture Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) depots.

Chisi who was one of the presidential aspirants in the 2014 tripartite elections said Malawians are still struggling to have an opportunity of buying subsidised inputs at Admarc due to the higher price.

He added that other people have been commenting on the issue but Malawi government has failed to change things.

According to Chisi, Admarc should sell maize at K5,000 so that all Malawians should have a chance of buying the staple food.

Reports show that people across the country are struggling to access maize even though the Malawi government insists that there is enough maize at Admarc depots for people to buy.

  1. That’s being clueless Mr President Chisi. Attach the citizens for not involving themselves in subsistence farming. Tell people to farm for their families, and not depending on buying only. The only solution, is farming for your stomach even using manure, methods are there for free in ADDs and not depending on ADMARC, it doesn’t grow crops or maize, but just like a middleman buy from farmers and sell to the public. Its actually low thinking to attach government for maize prices in Admarc, consult your political advisors further eBoss.

  31. This guy is insane. I Haven’t been aware of his existence until he has said this rubbish. Does he realize the value of Kwacha now or he is talking for the sake of it? K5500 per 50kg of maize is fair. Vendors are almost tripling that! Leave the government alone!

Just imagine; free health services, free primary education, loans for students in public universities, farm inputs subsidy. Currently we have 18000 primary teachers waiting to be employed. Remember the government was buying this maize, paying for labour, transportation etc. Nyathi, I m Yao .

And when other countries are donating some money to help the country, are they helping the rich one or the poor people. Because you guys you must think who’s dying because of hunger. Those are the people who can not afford to buy on high price. I wish I was the next president.
