Democratic Progressive Party (DDP) for the Northern Region Kenneth Sanga says he does not see any party that can triumph over the ruling party in the 2019 elections.
Sanga was speaking on New Year’s Eve when party members in the Northern Region gathered at their regional office to celebrate peaceful parliamentary and ward councillor primary elections in the region.
Speaking at the function, the regional governor who is also aspiring parliamentary candidate for the party in the city of Mzuzu said despite some party members leaving the DPP months ago, the remaining members have worked extra hard and the party is getting stronger by each day.
“We are going to campaign like never before and we have assembled all our campaign tools and I don’t see any party getting any closer to us,” Sanga said.
Sanga also thanked all those who took part in the elections for conducting themselves in a manner that has demonstrated peace and love in the party.
“There were a number of things that could affect the elections and its purpose but we maintained our peace and good workmanship that am sure shall lead us to triumph in many ways as the elections are getting more and more closer,” Sanga said.
For the primary elections, the party has remained with only Likoma Island to conduct the primary elections and Sanga said the process was a bit delayed to pave way for the presiding team to finalize other assignments it conducted in other districts.
“We are going to finish with Likoma on Wednesday and once we are through then we shall sit down and strategize properly the way we shall work, as you know we have only four months to market our candidates to the electorate,” Sanga concluded.
Mzuzu is the centre of attraction where two regional governors are expected to meet head on in the parliamentary race with United Transformation Movement (UTM) expected to field Leonard Njikho who is also the party’s regional governor.
