…burial at Misesa Cemetery
The funeral service of George Chamangwana, who until his death was Be Forward Wanderers Chairman, will take place at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday morning before the burial at Misesa Cemetery in the afternoon.
According to information sourced by Malawi24, there will be body viewing and prayers at the facility where Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets officials will be the pallbearers.
From there, the body of Chamangwana, who once played for the Nomads before being appointed team manager, will be taken to Misesa Cemetery for burial.
Chamangwana died in the early hours of Friday at Blantyre Adventist Hospital after a long illness.
Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in from all quarters of the nation.
Soccer pundits have hailed Chamangwana for his dedication to reorganize Wanderers to its current state.
Former Bullets General Secretary Harold Fote paid his tribute to the fallen hero.
“A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven. George had his own definition of the rivalry between BB and his Noma which he wanted all of us to understand. I remember the sacrifice he made while they were grappling with finances they donated K200 000 towards BB’s CAF mission. This was unprecedented and I wish everyone in football administration and fans alike could embrace his philosophy.
“George Chamangwana was a true sportsman. To say that he loved his Noma and football in general it will be an understatement. He will be remembered as an astute football administrator-verified by the fact that he was the longest serving chairman,” he said.
Mavuto Missi, who was Chamangwana’s closest friend, posted his tribute on social network:”You stood firm to see where Wanderers is today, you sacrificed your time and resources for the team you loved most. You assembled the best team and led the best executive ever. Your dreams to see the team win the league will be achieved by your boys and colleagues to honor your soul. Sleep well George,” he posted.
Chamangwana won many cups during his leadership and made Wanderers the most successful club in cup competitions.
