Malawi President Peter Mutharika has reiterated his government’s commitment to providing funds for Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs.
Mutharika had a meeting with the World Bank on 15 June, 2017, with a promise by the bank that it will continue supporting the improvement of Early Childhood Development initiatives.
Mutharika said he understands that life begins at a tender age and the only way to producing productive future leaders is through Early Childhood Development.
“For this reason we have increased our ECD budget ten times over the last 3 years. And we will continue on this trend,” said Mutharika
He asked the World Bank to pump in more resources in ECD and he thanked it for supporting the health sector as well as the education sector.
The World Bank team is in the country to monitor how the ECD is progressing.
