Invest Malawi Initiative will on 10 December hold an investment conference at Sheafer hall in Lilongwe that will bring together foreign and local business experts with the aim of assisting Malawians on ways to get funding for their ideas.
One of the organisers of the conference Robert Chiwamba told Malawi24 that the purpose of the event, named Funding Your Big Idea, will show entrepreneurs some of the options they have to fund their big business ideas.
According to Chiwamba, eight speakers will share on six ways of funding one’s big idea and such ways are angel investment, venture capital, crowd funding, loans, grants and personal equity.
“That kind of information is supposed to help proactive entrepreneurs get started on employing any method that they find makes sense to them. This is the first of its kind investment conference in Malawi for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs who understand that access to finance is often a Malawian entrepreneur’s biggest problem. This conference aims to help fix that by empowering people willing to learn from excellent speakers,” added Chiwamba.
Speakers will include Filipe Marques from Frankfurt School of Business and Management/European Investment Bank, Generose Dzulo from Opportunity International Bank of Malawi, Jonathan Jacobs from Malawi Mangoes, Menes La Plume of Tumaini Festival, Neil Nayar of Grittah’s Camp, Rachel Sibande of mHub and Napoleon Dzombe of Ntalimanja Holdings.
According to Chiwamba, the eight speakers are entrepreneurs, international financial experts and artists who either raised funds through the method they will present on or were facilitators in helping others access finance.
Invest Malawi is an initiative by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs to help them grow or get started in business. Malawians can register to attend the conference using the website www.investmalawi.com.
