President Peter Mutharika has reiterated his government’s commitment to ensure that the next generation is HIV and AIDs free.

hiv-ribbonMutharika made the remarks in his message for World Aids Day which falls on 1 December.

The president said this is a moment when the country should take stock so as to re-energise and refocus its commitment towards the fight against HIV and Aids.

He added that stakeholders and other non-governmental bodies have been trying to reduce new infections and putting people on antiretroviral therapy.

He further said that there is a great effort to prevent mother-to child transmission through modern technologies.

According to Mutharika, there is a possibility that the next generation would be HIV and AIDS free as efforts are being made to make sure that more people are not infected with the virus.

Mutharika has however urged Malawians to play a part in the implementation of HIV and AIDs policies at government, industrial institutional and community levels.
