Malawi President Peter Mutharika says the death of Eckleni Kudontoni who until his death was the Secretary General of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as a great loss to the ruling party.
Writing on his official Facebook page Mutharika wrote that he is shocked with the death.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have received shocking news about the tragic death of Democratic Progressive Party Secretary General, Mr Eckleni Kudontoni, who died in a car accident today.” Wrote Mutharika.
“Eckleni was one of the most loyal and committed members of our mighty party and he played a huge role towards our victory at the 2014 polls.” wrote Mutharika.
He further sent condolences to the Kudontoni family, the DPP.
“We will always remember your great deeds our brave, committed and patriotic member. ”
According to reports Kudontoni died today after his car Toyota Fortuner overturned at Bua along Lilongwe Kasungu road as a result of bursting of tyre.

Am not convinced that it was natural accident. May be ask those people around the area where accident happened. Something missing here: the exact place of accident, the exact time of accident, who was with him, how it happened, the picture of him on the middle of the road and where the car is doesn’t add up, the way he looks like on the road it’s as if it was hit and run. Some information is not straight here. Me as a Malawian and dedicated member of our mighty DPP am not convinced yet on the circumstances surrounding his death. How about these factions in the party fighting for leadership? Was he physically fit like no BP, Sugar, etc? Where was he going and to do what?
