Two Malawians arrested for duplicating credit cards

Two Malawian nationals have been arrested in South Africa for duplicating bank cards and for being found in possession of illegal point of sale (POS) devices.

The two, Diamond Thengeza, 26, and Clarksen Gwazeni, 24, were arrested last week after they had cloned bank cards belonging to customers at a restaurant.

RSA Credit cardsMalawi24 understands that Thengeza was the first to be caught after police received several complaints from customers whose bank cards were allegedly cloned after they had swiped at the restaurant.

According to police in the city, an illegal POS device was found at the business premises, while other two devices were found at Thengeza’s house.

Police said further investigations led them to Thengeza’s countryman Clarksen Gwazeni, 24, who was also arrested after an illegal POS device, two laptops, and two cloned credit cards were found at his flat in Capetown.

The arrest of two the Malawian nationals helped the police to arrest Mzwandile Khumalo, a South African aged 31, at his flat after he was found with four cloned bank cards, as well as two laptops and two POS devices.
