Malawi Government finalizes world class stadium construction in Lilongwe

Bingu National Stadium contractors have informed government that they have completed construction works at the magnificent stadium which is in Lilongwe.

The government of Malawi initially communicated that the deadline for construction works at the new soccer mecca is November 30th 2015 but the contractor wrote a letter to government on 28 November to inform it that they are ready to hand the stadium over to Malawi Government.

Minister of Youth and Culture Grace Obama Chiumia confirmed the development to the media and she also revealed that the stadium will be first handed over to Ministry of transport and public works before officially being handed over to the ministry of sports.

“It’s true the contractor finished all works and they only ask government to give them three days notice before the actual handover,” said Chiumia.

Bingu International Stadium will attract the soccer fraternity since it has 60,000 capacity, a far higher capacity than that of the old soccer cathedral, Kamuzu Stadium.
