Big Bullets to play Kaizer Chiefs next month

Malawi league leaders Big Bullets FC chairman Sam Chilunga has disclosed that the Blantyre based outfit will play against South African Kaizer Chiefs or Tanzanian club Young Africans FC during the official launch of their sponsorship.

The Red Army secured a K500 million sponsorship deal from Nyasa Manufacturing company who will pump in K100 million every year.

Speaking during Mpira ku Malawi program on MIJ FM on Wednesday, Chilunga revealed that talks are in progress between the owners of the clubs to play friendly matches during the launch at the Bingu international stadium next month.

“Malawians will know the truth about the sponsorship before 1 December, How we get the sponsorship and what conditions are attached to the deal. The deal is worth K500 million and each year we are going to get K100 million.”

“The official launch is next month, currently we are talking with Kaizer Chiefs owner and officials from Yanga FC so that we should play with one of the two clubs during the launch,” said Chilunga.

He further said that the team’s name will change from Big Bullets to Nyasa Big Bullets.

“Definitely the name will change. But we are scrutinizing the name first because we also have another team in Nsejjere league called Nyasa united so we don’t want to compromise things. The colour will still remain the same red,” he said.

Bullets who are on the blink of retaining the Super League title as they currently stand on the summit of the Super League have stayed 11 years without sponsorship after Bakili Muluzi pulled out the sponsorship plug.

If the deal materializes, Bullets will have the biggest sponsorship deal in Malawi football.
