Father arrested over attempts to sell step son with albinism

Arrested.Malawi Police in Mzimba on Monday arrested and are keeping in custody Christopher Kumwenda for allegedly trying to sell his four year old step son with albinism.

According to Police in the district, Kumwenda conspired with Lusungu Jere to sell the step son at a price of MK20, 000,000. Jere has also been netted for conspiring to commit a felony.

Confirming the development, National Police Publicist Rhodah Manjolo told Malawi24 that Kumwenda has for the past been forcing his wife to sell the child. The wife, according to police reports, lodged a complaint with Mzimba Police after the suspect kept on forcing her.

Kumwenda, 38, hails from Jamu village in Mzimba district while as Jere, 31, hails from Mkoko village Traditional Authority Chindi in the same district.
