Police urged to maintain professionalism

Police Officers in Blantyre have been urged to maintain a high professional standard when discharging their duties.

The call was made on Saturday October 27, 2018 at Blantyre Lodge during a third quarter review meeting.

Blantyre police Officer In-Charge Ellobiam Banda who is also Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police (SDCP) made the call when he addressed officers In-Charge of the city’s Police Sub-stations, posts and units.

He told the officers in-charge to keep on being committed and also be professionals when on duty in as far as crime reduction in the city is concerned.

Banda later briefed the officers on the plan for the forthcoming Christmas and New Year festive season.

“The operation plan outlines a number of initiatives put in place to respond to needs in the areas of crime management, traffic management and community policing just to mention a few.

“Among some of the activities highlighted in the plan include enhanced police visibility, day and night foot and motor vehicle patrols, roadblocks, sweeping exercises, intensive sensitisation meetings through community policing and intensified traffic checks/patrols,” said Banda.

He further said the Christmas and New Year Operation plan seeks to ensure prevalence of peace, law and order and roads free of accidents in Blantyre.

Participants during the meeting were officers In-Charge, heads of criminal investigations, operation officers and community policing coordinators from Milare, Chilomoni, Soche, Manase, Chirimba and Kabula.
