Rapist jailed for 10 years

Limbe Senior Resident Magistrate court has sentenced a 21 year old man to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for raping a woman aged 28.

According Limbe Police Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane, the convict Kaka Mdoka committed the crime in August at Chigumula Township in Blantyre.

He said the victim in the month of August went to her friend’s house at around 8pm within the township and when coming back she saw Mdoka standing near her house.

Mdoka then grabbed the woman and raped her. The matter was later reported to police and Mdoka was arrested.

In court he pleaded guilty to the charge of rape which is contrary to section 133 of the penal code.

Although the convict asked for leniency in his mitigation, the presiding magistrate Thoko Soko slapped him with 10 years imprisonment with hard labour.

Kaka Mdoka comes from Kanjanga village in Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre
