The race for this season’s Tnm Super League golden boot award is getting hotter every week as contenders for the top goal scorer award are leaving no stone unturned by putting the ball into the back of the net.

The players who are currently leading the race are Mafco’s hitman Richard Mbulu who has scored 17 goals, Nyasa Big Bullets’ Chiukepo Yakubu Msowoya and Kamuzu Barracks’ Manase Chiyesa come second with 13, and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers striker Peter Wadabwa who has 12 goals.

Mbulu has been leading the top goal scorer’s chart for a good part of the 2016 Tnm Super League season but he faces stiff competition from Msowoya and Wadabwa who are running neck to neck behind him.

Yesterday he bagged a hat-trick in Mafco’s 3-1 win over minnows Karonga United at Chitowe Stadium.

Pilling pressure on Mbulu and Chiukepo is Wadabwa who has been finding it difficult to put the ball into the back of the net since the start of the second round of this season’s Tnm Super League.

Chiukepo finished last season as a joint top goal scorer together with Red Lions striker Innocent Bokosi.
