The Magistrate court in Mangochi district recently convicted 47 year old, White Taimu to a 30 months jail term for incest which is contrary to section 157 of the penal code.
The convict who hails from Makula village in Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi, had carnal knowledge of his 20 year old biological daughter with a belief that it would heal her epileptic condition and as a result of the act, the girl fell pregnant.
It was after this that the matter was reported to police who arrested the offender.
When passing the judgment, the First Grade Magistrate in the district, Ronald Mbwana stated that such acts cannot be condoned in society.
Malawi Police Service has since asked the general public to report such cases to the law enforcers as such behaviour is unbecoming.
