BREAKING: Chanco closed after students block US Second lady

University of Malawi’s Chancellor College has been closed, Malawi24 has the information.

According to a statement the College has been closed indefinitely with students being told to vacate the Campus by 4 pm today, 19 July 2016.

The decision to close the institution has come after the students were involved in running battles with the Police following government decision to hike fees with about 100%.

The students started protesting yesterday and in the process they turned violent and engaged in cat and mouse chase with Police Officers.

Today the students went back to rioting and blocked the way for a convoy that was carrying the US Second lady Jill Biden who is on a three day visit in the country.
