Irked b the noise perhaps villagers around Matawale and Chinamwali areas in the city of Zomba have joined another grouping of Chancellor College students who are in a cat and rat chase with police officers in the city.
As we reported, the students are protesting against the decision by the University of Malawi (Unima) to raise fees for generic and mature students.
Some of the students had to run away to villages around the city in fear of being arrested by the police.
But police who followed the students around met the wrath of villagers who claimed to have been disturbed and therefore rallied behind the law enforcers in the running battles.
As this post was made, the students blocked the way for a convoy that was carrying the US Second lady Jill Biden who is on a three day visit in the country.
The college has since been closed.

Everytime i read about these senseless fees hikes happening in Malawi i feel really bad for my Nation. Everywhere in the world students are fighting for zero fees in all institutions of learning and to the contrary in Malawi they are raising up the fees rediculously.
This is a real kind of brutality the government displays when it has failed its citizens. The reason why we have too old madalas in most key government positions, who are always sleeping while on duty, is because we have denied our own youth a better education through exhorbitant school fees. Infact the issue of fees hike has concerned thousands of people by realizing that more can not afford the family to spend for single child but it would be calm resolution had it been all letters sent by the University of Malawi Student Council(UMSA) was considered it would’nt happen the way it is,now the pilice arrested even some chinamwali dwellers for trial probably they are going to deffend themselves as innocents whilst they mostly not happy with why students are conducting riots.
