They are rivals on the pitch but off the field, they are brothers. Mighty Wanderers have congratulated cross-town rivals Nyasa Big Bullets for winning this year’s Presidential Cup after overcoming Moyale Barracks 4-3 on penalties.
On Monday, General Secretary for the Nomads Mike Butao took special time to congratulate Bullets for overcoming the resilient Soldiers.
“Congratulations to Big Bullets for winning the Presidential Cup. To get an equalizer in the 93rd minute and eventually win the cup showed amazing spirit.”
“That never die attitude is something every sportsman should applaud and emulate,” said Butao on Wanderers’ official Facebook page.
Apart from Butao, Eddington Ng’onamo who coached Bullets in 2012 when they won the same cup, also congratulated his former side for equaling Wanderers’ record of winning the cup twice.
“Congratulations to Bullets for winning the cup. Their win will sparkle our form because we will be fighting to win something for our fans too. We will try our level best to defend the Carlsberg Cup,” said Ng’onamo.
Bullets arrived in Blantyre with the trophy on Sunday in an Airport Open Roof bus.
