The Consumers Association of Malawi (Cama) has decried the shortage of selling points for electricity prepaid units.
This is coming at a time when Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) is installing prepaid meters for its customers nationwide.
Cama Executive Director John Kapito said it is a good initiative to install prepaid meters for Escom customers but insisted that there are a few places where people can access the units.
“It is a good initiative for customers as well as Escom as it does not have to waste time to send utility bills but access to the units to be used is limited,” said Kapito.
He added that Escom should have introduced other ways for people to buy the prepaid units such as using their mobile phones or locating the selling points closer to residential areas.
