United Kingdom (UK) based Malawians have joined hands with the corporate world in organising achievers awards slated for 16th April in Birmingham, England.
The event is aimed at recognising Malawians in diaspora making it big in the foreign land. It is a brainchild of Malawi Association UK, a community of Malawians making strides in strengthening the bond among countrymen in the former colonial masters’ country.
As one of the many events that are annually organised by Malawians residing in UK, it is expected to attract a huge patronage thanks to the inevitable feeling of dejavu.
In recognition of local music, urban artist Sonyezo Kandoje who is popularly known as Sonye will spice up the gala night.
The “Tsika” hit-maker has expressed delight over the good news that all he wishes for, is for time to rocket. CSN International Exhibition and Conference Centre in Birmingham which is situated along 238 Highgate Street will play host to the Malawi night. Besides performances by musicians, Disk Jokers (DJs) will also showcase their skills on the deck.
From 6pm until late, the heat of the Flames from the warm heart of Africa will conquer the Birmingham snow.
It will be another time to reminisce on home memories, time to dance to the African drum. So far, 2016 has proved to be another harvesting season with a number of urban artists getting exposed to the international spotlight.
Last week, Lulu, Dan Lu, and Skeffa Chimoto also left for the UK for a series of performances.
