Breaking: Police shoot three vendors in Limbe

Malawi Police officers in Limbe, Blantyre have this evening shot three vendors who were doing their business at a restricted premise close to Block Buster shop leaving them with serous injuries, Malawi24 can confirm.

When Malawi24 rushed to the scene a few minutes after actual incident, it only found one victim who was shot on leg and by that time in great pain with the others already ferried to hospital by a speeding sympathizer.

Malawi24 Breaking NewsWhen this reporter tried to interview the victim on what really happened, he only managed to identify himself as Martin Masuwa and he failed to explain more because he was failing to speak due to pains.

But according to one eye witness, Andrew Mafude who was at the scene when this was happening said police were in a Blantyre City Patrol vehicle with some Blantyre City officers when the fired at the vendors.

Mafude explained that other two victims who were critically injured were taken to hospital using same vehicle (Blantyre City Patrol) and they left one at the place.

The two, a woman and a youthful looking young man were rushed to hospital by some ‘Good Samaritans’, according to witnesses.

The woman who was selling fast foods was shot in the head while the young boy was shot in the abdomen, Malawi24 has been highly informed.

“A polisiwo anasika mu galimoto ya City ndikuyamba kuwombwera nyamata yemwe amafuna kutenga ma face a phone (amuombera pa mimba)omwe amagulitsa kuti athawise kuti a City wo asamulande, kenako awomberanso mmutu mayi yemwe amagulitsa zitete zake kenako ataona bambo wina akuthawa ndi ma ambulera omwe amagulitsa anamuombera pa mwendo.” said an eye witness in the vernacular Chichewa and has narrated the whole incident.

Masuwa shot on the leg and bullet is still there was then taken to hospital by Malawi Indian Nationals.

Police were yet to comment, when this publication made this post.
