Likwemba to miss start of season

Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Chikondi Likwemba is expected to miss the club’s pre-season friendlies and he will also be unavailable for the start of the 2016 Super League season due to a shoulder injury.

Likwemba twisted his shoulder when the 2015 champions were playing against Dynamos of Zimbabwe in an international friendly on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

According to information gathered by this publication, the midfielder will be out of action for close to a month.

Nyasa Big Bullets technical director Billy Tewesa has confirmed that the midfielder will be out of action for a few weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury that led to his substitution in the first half of the Nyasa Challenge Cup on Saturday.

“Likwemba got injured when we were playing against Dynamos and he will be out for a few weeks.

“But his injury will not affect Bullets preparations for the new season because we have a lot of players to cover up for the injured players,” said Tewesa.

Likwemba’s injury is coming at a time when Big Bullets have two friendly games against Mafco and Dwangwa United on Saturday and Sunday respectively at Chitowe Stadium.

The midfielder was one of the most influential players when Bullets won the Super League last season.
