Malawi’s opposition party, United Democratic Front (UDF) publicist Ken Ndanga has dismissed claims that his party is going through tough times as media reports suggest that there are chaos in the party.
Ndanga yesterday told Capital Radio Malawi’s Straight Talk programme that everything is in a normal state. He said that people are used to the noisy UDF and that is why they think things are in disarray.
He said: “The problem is that you are used to the noisy UDF, I can assure you that we are planning and things are just fine.”
The yellow party has since the first half of 2015 been in the news for all the negative reasons: the controversial establishment of a working relationship with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), questioning of their president’s decisions, and the recent firing of vice president Iqbar Omar.
Commenting on the recently fired vice president’s stand against the UDF and DPP relationship, Ndanga said he is only aware of one member, Lucius Banda, as the only one who was not interested in the move thus he refused to move to government benches in Parliament.
“If that is what he (Omar) has been saying, then it’s just an appeal for sympathy,” he said. The former ruling party’s spokesperson also warned against making implications out of his social media posts stressing that he has a different life outside UDF.
