A boy has died in Mangochi following a motorcycle accident

A 17-year-old boyp identified as Abdul-Rahim Haji has died after his motorcycle collided head-on with a Toyota Sienta on the evening of Wednesday at St Augustine 3 Primary School along Mangochi- Monkeybay road.

Mangochi Police Station Publicist Amina Tepani Daudi said Haji who had no crush helmet on the said date was cruising in an unregistered BMW motorcycle from the direction of Mangochi main roundabout heading towards Mpondasi.

Upon arrival at St. Augustine 3 Primary School, while speeding, Haji was overtaking two motor vehicles and in the process he collided head on with a Toyota Sienta registration NS 5476 which was being driven by Reyneck Nagoli and was joining the road from left to the right side.

He added that following the impact, Haji sustained severe head injuries, and fractures on both legs and died while receiving treatment at Mangochi District Hospital.

“We are appealing to all road users to always follow road safety measures to avoid such accidents,” she explained.

Abdul-Rahim Haji hailed from Saiti Kadzuwa village, Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi district.
