Three Blantyre-based ladies will enjoy this year’s Christmas celebrations after shopping groceries worth K300, 000 within 60 seconds in the ongoing FDH Bank’s Swipe and Dash promotion.
On Friday 2nd December, the FDH Bank team invaded the newly opened Chipiku Clock Tower supermarket in Blantyre for a draw in the ongoing Swipe and 60 seconds trolley dash promotion where three ladies, Portia Alimoyo, Priscilla Thyola and Jacqueline Namuse emerged winners.
In an interview with journalists who witnessed the draw, one of the winners, Namuse thanked the bank for introducing the promotion which she says signifies how the bank commits to cement the relationship with the public, customers in particular.
While describing the gesture as an early Christmas gift to her family, Namuse said she was ignorant of the promotion and she just visited the shop to buy for her family some few things. However, she said digital payment of goods and services has been her tradition.
“Am just speechless for this, I did not expected this, I just came here to buy some few things but lucky enough am going back home with groceries worth K300,000. We will surely enjoy our Christmas. I really thank FDH for introducing this promotion,” reacted Namuse who was over the moon.
In a separate interview, FDH bank plc’s Senior Manager for Digital Sales, Yamikani Mbawala said the bank is very much with impressed with the progress of the promotion which he said was introduced to encourage payment of goods and services using digital methods.
“Its doing great, you have seen how many people entered the draw for today. We are trying to encourage customers to use their cards more than their cash. We keep saying cash is very expensive. We have now seen that customers are willing to pay goods using digital payment methods.
“When you get into the shop just ask for FDH bank PoS machine, we now have them everywhere. Write down your name and phone number at the back of the receipt, then drop it into the box, then you might be one of the lucky winners of the promotion,” said Mbawala.
He further added that the promotion which runs to 31st December, 2022, is aimed to inculcate a cashless shopping tradition which he said would save the costs of replacing overused bank notes by the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
The exciting shopping experience which took attention of the shop was spiced up by the country’s celebrated music songwriter, Patience Namadingo whose K60 million worth brand ambassadorship contract was renewed on the same day.
To stand a chance of winning the 60 seconds shopping dash worth K300,000 as well as four shopping vouchers worth K60,000 and four more fuel vouchers also worth K60,000, people are supposed to swipe an ATM card of any bank using FDH bank’s point of sale (PoS) gadgets placed in various supermarkets across the country.
