Police at Nkhunga in Nkhotakota have launched a manhunt for four people suspected of killing a 19-year-old man.
The victim has been identified as Gerald Mkoko.
The incident happened at Machangalanda village, in the area of Traditional Authority Kanyenda in Nkhotakota district.
According to the deceased’s father, on January 30, 2021 Gerald together with the four suspects went to Vitekete trading center to drink beer.
In the afternoon, as they were returning home one of the suspects defecated in the Gerald’s garden.
This brought a fierce disagreement which ended into a fight.
The four suspects ganged up against Gerald, accusing him of being a trouble maker.
During the fight, Gerald was seriously assaulted and fainted on the spot.
He was later taken to Liwaladzi Rural Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The matter was reported to Nkhunga Police Station. A team of CID officers rushed to the scene and they took the dead body to Nkhotakota district hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway to arrest the four suspects who are currently on the run.
