A coal miner died on Thursday at Jalawe Coal Mine in Rumphi after a stone fell on him.
The miner has been identified as Kennedy Msiska aged 37.
According to police in the district, on the fateful day Msiska who was working as a driller at the mine reported for duties and in course of duties, a big stone fell on him.
He was taken to Rumphi District Hospital where death was confirmed.
Postmortem conducted at Rumphi District Hospital indicates that he died of internal bleeding.
Meanwhile, police say workers at the coal mine should wear and use protective material to avoid such incidents.
Msiska came from Lukhoti Village in the area of Traditional Authority Njikula in Rumphi district.
