Devotion: Know and ask for the inheritance

Bible

Luke 15:11-12 “Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood.”

Health, freedom, prosperity, heaven, peace, success and so on belong to children of God. They are an inheritance already stored for you. However you need to know and ask for them to be delivered to you. The younger prodigal son knew the inheritance and asked for it and was given.

The elder son didn’t know, never asked and kept on working as a slave in the father’s house. Knowledge and asking are also vital to have the inheritance handled over to you.

Look at the answer of elder son: Luke 15:28-31 “But he(elder son) was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.”

The elder son was asking for a goat without knowing that all things were his. He was jealous of a fatted calf for his brother when all calves were his. If you don’t know your inheritance, you become jealous of others. Know and ask.Psalm 2:8 “Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.”

Confession

I know my inheritance and I will ask the Father to deliver into my hands in the name of Jesus. Amen.
