Stadiums galore: Ntcheu to have its first stadium

The 20,000 seater capacity football stadium will cost Ntcheu District Council K4.6 billion.

This was revealed on Thursday by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government Kinswell Dakamau during the signing ceremony which was attended by officials from District Council and Plem Construction Company.

Dakamau hailed Ntcheu District Council for finalizing all the requirements for the project to commence.

“I have been told that this project will cost K4.6 billion and the stadium will have a capacity of 20 000 seats, thus helping the council to generate revenue in return,” he said.

Managing Director for Plem Construction Company, Fleming Kapunda assured the council of the company’s commitment to abide to the contract agreement.

“It is a prestige for Plem Construction Company to have been awarded this contract and we will do good work to portray the company’s good image whilst ensuring timeliness and quality,” said Kapunda.

Recently, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa revealed that government is planning to construct more stadiums in almost all the districts in the country.

Nankhumwa said this at the official commissioning of the K320 million Mulanje Park Stadium.

According to Nankhumwa, construction of district stadia’s will increase sources of revenue for local councils.

There are plans to construct stadiums in Rumphi, Thyolo and Mzimba this year.

  9. If you sleep under the tree and you win lotto, the first thing is to build a house not to buy a BMW. Malawi needs world class roads, to help entrepreneurs, electricity, clean water, irrigation system. But now to build a stadium in a village and not improving Kamuzu Stadium, is a bad sign for the country’s leadership.

    1. Its just a plan to steal in disguise of stadium projects,, I was at the forefront accusing president Trump that we are lazy just good for sex and steeling,, his ideas are realistic.

    5. Mr Ben ask the people of Ndirande, Nancholi, locations around Blantyre, whether they benefited from Kamuzu Stadium. I am not against the stadium, but important things first. Otherwise don’t complain about the roads, electricity and clean tap water. Enjoy the Stadium.

After watching soccer you go home and drink madzi a kuchisime odzadza achule instead of tap clean water, you go to shop to buy paraffin for nyale instead of electricity, you try to phone no network, you want to bath and you use chidebe instead of shower, miseu yochitisa ngozi mbwee AND you call that development? Malawi doesn’t know what it wants… leadership lost on many levels and the people are lot too not all but most… with power all day everyday the investments could come in there’s already cheek labor in Malawi yet we have never capitalized on it, wonder why… really hope we see the light soon before we go into a state of emergency… and I hope people know a stadium at that price means nothing for the district, it will simply put money in dirty political individuals… #commonsence
