Police in Chitipa district are looking for a woman who dumped a three day old baby boy at Chitipa District Hospital.
According to Chitipa police publicist Gladwell Simwaka, the baby boy who was wrapped in a cloth was found alive in the early hours of Thursday, 12 October.
Simwaka said the baby was found lying behind the western side of Chitipa district hospital fence by people who were passing by.
The people later reported the matter to Chitipa police station.
The baby boy is at Chitipa District Hospital where he is being taken care of as efforts to trace the mother continues.
Police have since appealed to the general public to help with information leading to identification of the mother or relatives.
