The much awaited 500 million Kwacha Karonga Stadium will be opened this month.
Confirming the development to Malawi24, James Loga said teams will start using the stadium in mid-August.
He however said football authorities in the district are not happy with the quality of work and because the project was not finalised in time.
“We are not convinced with the project comparing the total budgeted money, 500 million is a lot of money and the contractor is taking too long to finalise the project,” said Loga.
Karonga stadium will help Chitipa United which is currently using Mzuzu Stadium for home games something that has been cited as one of the factors for the team’s poor performances in the league.
Another team expected to be using the stadium is former Super League side Karonga United which is running head to head with league leaders in Simama League.
